Self-Vaccination

Mr D went for his annual ‘once over’ at the GP recently and was sent off for 'bloods', a colonoscopy, a prostate test (…while ‘under’ for the colonoscopy…wimp!) and a flu vaccine.

There was no nurse available at the time to administer the flu vaccination so the doctor gave him a script for the vaccine and said to come back later.

Last Saturday morning he went off for his blood test.  After several attempts on both arms, they couldn’t find a vein so sent him home – minus the blood test, and minus the flu vaccination.

I was out for dinner last night, and when I came home, I noticed the flu vaccination packaging (which had been in the fridge all week) in the bin.

Turns out he decided to give it to himself!

He’s not a diabetic, he’s not a drug addict, in fact, he’s never injected himself, or anyone else before.  But last night, after a couple of glasses of red, he apparently felt qualified to injected himself with the influenza vaccine.

As it happens, I went to my doctor for my own flu needle today and recounted the story of my husband’s bravery/stupidity to the nurse.

“Oh, is he a doctor?” she asked.

“No, he’s a car wholesaler,” I replied.

My new friends

I have a new group of friends.

For a long time my book has been closed, but I’ve had cause to open it for my ‘Game of Thrones’ friends.

It’s also why I haven’t blogged much lately – Season 3 has just been released so there’s much to watch and talk about with my new buddies.

We see each other 2-3 times a week, at the gym and talk with great excitement between squats and push-ups about Tyrion (my new ‘small’ man crush), Calise, the Starks and the Lannisters.

I’m actually hot for Kingslayer Jamie Lannister (never mind that he fathered his sister’s children).  He’s been so much nicer since he lost his hand.

When I find another friend or someone new who shares my obsession I get a rush of excitement – how did they react when Ned lost his head? How much to they hate Joffrey? Do they also want pet dragons?  Will Tyrion really marry Sansa?

So thanks Geoff (who got me hooked in the first place), Trevor (my PT), John (a random from the gym), Deb (my other PT), Mandy and Chris (Safety Beach buddies) and everyone else who’s indulged me in ‘GOT’ conversation.

Until the next episode…
